French President Emmanuel Macron has stated that Paris is not currently preparing to send troops to the ground in Ukraine.
However, he stressed that France is considering the possibility of sending military experts or a limited contingent outside the line as a sign of solidarity, the Telegraph reports.
Macron stressed that “France is not preparing to send military groups to the front line (in Ukraine),” the Telegraph reports.
“Among all the options to provide security guarantees for Ukraine, there is the possibility of sending experts or even troops in limited numbers outside any conflict zone to support Ukrainians and demonstrate solidarity,” he added.
Macron also stated that his country supports the rearmament of the Ukrainian Armed Forces as part of a long-term security strategy.
Among other measures, he mentioned the possibility of Ukraine’s membership in NATO, emphasizing that this issue is being actively discussed with Great Britain.
Macron also referred to a “possible decision within the talks to carry out a UN-mandated peacekeeping operation along the contact line,”. /DLYnews/
